The length of the process often depends on the size of your business. That said the online process is a fast and effective way of measuring your carbon footprint. It removes the need for consultants and can be used internationally.
Typically, for a business with 100-200 employees the data input process will only take a couple of hours. For a business with 10 employees, the process should normally take between 30 minutes and an hour.
Please note that in order for you to input your data as quickly as possible all necessary energy bills will need to be collected prior to starting the online process.

Q:
A:
Measurement covers your operational carbon of businesses activities in accordance with the Planet Positive Protocol (WBCSD & WRI: GHG Protocol scopes 1 & 2; ISO 14064). In year 1, Planet Positive certification requires measurement of the following:
Scope 1:
- Onsite fuel combustion (e.g. boilers, furnaces, turbines)
- Owned transport (e.g. trucks, ships, airplanes and cars)
Note: this does not include employee business travel or commuting
Scope 2:
- Consumption of purchased electricity and gas
Q:
A:
Scope 3 is classed as other emissions that are a consequence of the organisation’s activities but occur from sources not owned or controlled by the organisation e.g. employee commuter travel, waste disposal, production of purchased material.
As Planet Positive helps you reduce we don’t use it, this is because your business is not in control of it i.e. you don’t receive the bills to pay it.
However, we will help you measure your scope 3 emissions from the second year of certification.

ISO certifications indicate that a businesses is managing and thinking about their environmental impact. Planet Positive accreditation compliments ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 by enabling compliant companies to measure the outcomes of environmental management systems.
As your business is already compliant with ISO 14001 and 9001, it is likely that you will have all the data measurement systems required for Planet Positive Certification in place, which means your data collection process will be swift and easy. If however, you need to introduce a new data collection system to better collate the data you need for Planet Positive Certification you will need to think about making this ISO compliant.
The Planet Positive Certification shows that your company is committed to not only measuring your environmental performance but reporting and improving it. It shows your desire to go beyond what is required and to make a positive difference.
