The building is a 1.1 million sq ft distribution centre within which Marks & Spencer is consolidating its north of England logistics network.

What being Planet Positive means for our building

All new ProLogis buildings are designed and constructed to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation, an EPC ‘A’ rating (for buildings over 100,000 sq ft) and to be embodied carbon neutral. The addition of Planet Positive certification enhances the building’s sustainability credentials and makes a contribution towards Marks & Spencer’s corporate sustainability initiative, which is known as Plan A

The building has achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation and an EPC ‘A’ (CO2 Index 25) rating. This means that building-related operational carbon emissions are 49% lower than a typical new build warehouse and 76% lower than existing buildings.

ProLogis also took measures to eliminate the carbon embodied in the structure and fabric of the building. Embodied carbon emissions were measured and reduced before the remaining embodied carbon footprint was 110% offset through the Planet Positive process

As a result of the combined reduction of operational and embodied carbon emissions, the building has a carbon intensity of 234 kg/CO2e/m2/annum, which is 74% lower than that of a benchmark building constructed fully in accordance with current Building Regulations

Who we worked with to make our building Planet Positive
