The Planet Positive Foundation, a non-profit making organization and a UK registered charity, is dedicated to educating people on sustainability and engaging them actively in projects that reduce carbon emissions.

  • The Foundation runs the Planet Positive Community Sustainability Projects. These projects are funded by businesses with Planet Positive certification through their Step 3 investment.
  • Community Sustainability Projects are local, national and international schemes, all of which adhere to the protocol of Planet Positive’s ‘triple bottom line’. In other words, each of them delivers a positive environmental, social and economic impact.
  • The Planet Positive Schools Programme, which is also run through the Foundation, contributes much-needed educational resources to schools. Crucially, the programme creates links between businesses and community.

Positive Investments.

In order to become a certified Planet Positive organisation, businesses are asked to 'Invest' beyond the boundaries of their own business and make a positive contribution to their communities or the wider society.

  • 10% of the Business Certification Fee is invested into Planet Positive Approved Sustainability Projects via the Planet Positive Foundation
  • Most businesses prefer to Invest in Sustainability Projects, however, for those businesses who prefer to offset their carbon footprint, we offer carbon projects that meet the Planet Positive Protocol

Planet Positive Projects

Schools Programme
Planet Positive’s Schools Programme enables businesses to link with local schools and support sustainability education.

13 In the UK, Planet Positive has teamed with The Phoenix Consultancy, one of the UK’s leading education consultancies, to deliver the programme. The programme enables businesses to forge links with local schools and promote learning about sustainability in fun, active and meaningful ways. Employees can be trained to become Resident Liaison Officers with schools and lead assemblies and workshops on sustainability themes. Workshops can also be lead by Phoenix who can facilitate employee participation. To extend our reach and involve more of the community in learning about sustainability, we aim to engage parents and other community members through take-home messages and homework assignments.

Cool Earth
Cool Earth works to protect rainforests in Venezuela and the Amazon.

14 Cool Earth works to protect rainforests that are in imminent danger of deforestation in South America by working with the local communities. They are one of the world’s leading avoided deforestation organizations.. Areas with high biodiversity such as this store at least 260 tonnes of CO2 per acre, so their protection is critical. Cool Earth’s solution is simple: to secure land that would otherwise be sold to loggers and ranchers and to price deforestation out of the market. The funding that organisations provide is put in a local trust and the local communities made legal custodians of the land.

Excellent Development
Excellent Development works with community groups in semi-arid Kenya to alleviate food and water shortages.

15 The communities of Kenya have historically suffered from food and water shortages brought about by drought and desertification as well as over exploitation of woodland for firewood, building and agriculture. Excellent Development is a registered charity that delivers environmental conservation projects including the construction of small sand dams, the terracing of adjoining land followed by the planting of trees. These measures result in improved soil and water conservation which increases food production and water availability as well as reducing disease and health problems.

Link Community Development
Working with government and communities to improve the quality of education in sub-Saharan Africa.

16 This project aims to install solar panels into schools, providing them with a reliable, cost effective and sustainable energy supply. Each centre will be provided with a netbook, printer and internet connection. Teachers from local schools along with district education staff will be given training on the use and maintenance of the equipment and the use of the internet and email. Use of the internet facilitates essential communication with the provincial education staff, LCD staff and other schools. As a result, teacher absenteeism, transport and mobile telephone costs are reduced.

Solar connect offers school pupils the opportunity to take action on climate change by raising awareness in communities around the world of solar power as an alternative energy solution locally and globally.
